GVRPC's Fay Haslett Honored by USDA Rural Development as Site Manager of the Year


Fay Haslett, Site Manager of Woodside Apartments in Nunda, New York received recognition as Site Manager of the Year by USDA Rural Development. An awards presentation followed by a reception will be held at Woodside Apartments located at 9 Fourth Street, Nunda, NY on Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 at 11:00AM. State Director, Patrick Brennan will be recognizing Fay at the state level, along with Rural Development staff, tenants, community members, family and friends.

Apartment managers play a vital role in maintaining the quality of life for the residents that reside in the apartments by providing safety and meeting their needs. Some of the criteria for receiving this prestigious award include; tenant satisfaction, curb appeal, accurate record keeping and actions taken above and beyond what is expected in the site manager's role.

Patricia Costanzo, Property Manager for GVRPC said, "We are so proud to have an employee receive this award. Fay always has an enthusiastic and positive attitude which is evident in the tenants' happiness at Woodside Apartments. Fay's residents adore her, and I do not use that term lightly." Before coming to work for GVRPC, Fay spent several years volunteering at Faith in Action and the Ronald McDonald House. Her genuine caring personality is apparent in everything she does for the tenants at Woodside.

Hillside Village Apartments Roof Raising in Nunda


The construction site at 67 Mill Street in Nunda will be the scene of a roof raising ceremony on Tuesday, July 31st for Hillside Village Apartments, a new 24 unit apartment complex for small families and people who are elderly or disabled. The new apartments, developed by Letchworth Development Corp. and Genesee Valley Rural Preservation Council, Inc., are financed by USDA Rural Development, the New York State Housing Trust Fund and private financing. The Bank of Castile will provide construction financing. Jill Alcorn, President of Letchworth Development Corp., set the estimated total cost of the complex at $3.7 million dollars.

Hillside Village Apartments is the tenth complex in western New York owned and managed by Ms. Alcorn's organization. Designed by TAB Design Architects and built by Letchworth Contracting, Inc. the complex is slated for completion in the fall of 2007. Applications for the apartments will be available in August.

The public is invited to the Hillside Village roof raising ceremony at the construction site at 67 Mill Street at 10:00 am, immediately following will be a presentation honoring GVRPC's Fay Haslett as Site Manager of the Year by Patrick Brennan, State Director, USDA Rural Development. The award ceremony and reception will be held at Woodside Apartments at 9 Fourth Street in the village of Nunda. Congressman Tom Reynolds, along with Senator Catharine Young and Assemblyman Dan Burling are invited guests. George VonPless, Director of Multi-Family Housing with USDA Rural Development, as well as several other federal and local officials are expected to be in attendance.
